Organotopia

The Ultima festival estimates that a 1.500 persons saw and heard the 12 hour performance Organotopia, in Paulus church and Birkelunden park, on September 17, 2022.

Nils Henrik Asheim's gesamtkunstwerk was organized as 12 hours, each dedicated to the remake of a composer or classical genre. After 40 minutes of each hour a singer entered the stage and performed with the organ and keyboard ensemble.

In the area around the open door to the church, one could experience both the sound from the concert and the simultaneous remix over the loudspeaker array in the park. The custom built scenography in the park served as playground and furniture for dancers and public.

As a project, Organotopia is open-ended and could be recreated for other sites, in new versions. Who knows where the next edition might appear.
