A pipe organ installed in the main railway hall of Lviv, Ukraine. Every weekend, Friday and Saturday, an organist performs.
On Jan. 10 and 11, Nils Henrik Asheim performed Norwegian music of Grieg & Tveitt, music by Bach, improvisations - and the Ukrainian National Anthem.
The Friday's concert was attended by the Mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovyi.
From Galleria Continua's text:
'Instrument' transforms the remnants of war into sound and meaning, offering a poignant reflection on resilience and culture under siege. While it appears traditional at first glance, its jagged, discordant features evoke themes of dissonance and conflict. Installed in the central hall of Lviv train station, the organ is accompanied by an immersive soundscape.
Live performances by international musicians will activate the organ every weekend from November 22, 2024 to January 19, 2025.
