I was asked by Baktruppen to participate in a performance in Rotterdam on June 18th. The Witte de With center of Arts organized a weekend event "Let's compare Mythologies" within a series on the theme of morality.
I provided some organ playing and melodica also (with the help of a split garden hose & two blowers). The organ of the Norwegian Seamen's church turned out to be a charming thing that's really worth a restauration. The church is more Norse than Norway ever has been. We opened with a waffle eating competition and welcome, welcome, welcome everybody.
This didn't happen without a few hours of discussion with the clergymen about where to place the border between outside and inside. There was a dog in the performance. Should he be in or out, DoG or GoD. Who is leading who, who is owning who, who's the underdog and the overdog.
We concluded by burying the Morality Iron Dog behind the church, leaving a sign in Dutch: "Hier is de hond begraven". Baktruppen are free-minded and at the same time extremely serious about all they do. Not sure why they asked me, but I liked it.
